Sacramento Burger Battle selected as qualifier to the World Food Championships

Sacramento, CA – The world of competition food just got a little bigger and the Sacramento Burger Battle is contributing to its growth.

The World Food Championships, the four-day food festival and competition taking place November 1 through 4, 2012, announced today that the Sacramento Burger Battle has been selected as an automatic qualifier for its Burger Division. That means that the judged winner of the Sacramento Burger Battle on September 18 will get a chance to compete against Burger Champions from around the world in a Las Vegas showdown like no other.

The World Food Championships, hosted by Man vs Food Nation’s Adam Richman, is a four-day festival and competition that will feature culinary champions of all walks of life squaring off for food supremacy and $300,000 in cash in seven different categories.

“Every major professional sport features a world title competition to declare the best of the best,” stated Mike McCloud, President of Trybe Targeting and producer of the four-day event. “This culinary showdown in Las Vegas will settle once and for all who is the best among amateur and professional chefs and cooks who compete each year in thousands of food competitions and contests across America.”

“I’m excited to see our event selected as a qualifier to the WFC,” commented Sacramento Burger Battle organizer Rodney Blackwell. “Not only will our winner now have local bragging rights, but they’ll get a shot at fame and glory on a world stage!”

The 2012 categories will feature classic American cuisine: bbq, chili, burgers, sandwiches, side dishes, a Champions Challenge featuring winners of online recipe contests , and a World Chef Challenge open to some of the best chefs in America’s greatest food cities. The champion of each category will win $25,000 and meet at the Final Table, one Sunday, November 4, to determine the World Food Champion and the winner of the $75,000 top prize.

“In a day and age when there are so man culinary competitions — ranging from contests of taste to those of technique — The World Food Championships will be the ultimate food competition,” said Adam Richman, host of the World Food Championships. “It will be the biggest stage in the cooking competition world, where every beloved food from around the globe and everyone from professionals to amateur enthusiasts can come to take their shot at the title and prove that they have what it takes to be the best.
